Job title: Chef

Reports to: Head Chef, Senior Chef and Senior Management

Salary: Up to £18,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Overview

Oversee and co-ordinate kitchen for preparation and cooking of restaurant or take away dishes designated by management. You will support the head chef, senior chefs and other members of the kitchen team to ensure that dishes are sent out on time and to the required standard.

Job responsibilities and duties

  • To ensure that all stocks are rotated and controlled and are kept under optimum conditions
  • To support and assist in the preparation of ingredients and dishes before, during and after service
  • To ensure that all dishes are being prepared to the correct recipe and the correct quantity
  • To ensure that all dishes reach the pass correctly garnished, the correct portion size, presented on the correct serving dish in the prescribed manner
  • To ensure that your section is kept clean and tidy at all times
  • To ensure that any stock shortages are communicated promptly to the head chef or senior chef
  • Assist in maintaining a professional level in the kitchen, adhering to the standard operating procedures and policies
  • Assist in ensuring the kitchen is clean and meets the required standards
  • Ensure that all kitchen equipment you use is fully functional, stored correctly and report any problems to management
  • To have good knowledge of food hygiene, health and safety standards and record and maintain our records and procedures
  • Ensure that cleaning tasks before, during and after service are completed correctly to the highest possible standard
  • Attend business meetings as and when required
  • Attend and complete training courses as and when required
  • To always look smart, clean and in professional chef wear
